For Comox Council

Thoughtful Planning. Strong Community.

Protecting what makes Comox special while planning responsibly for what's next.

Lisa Bourgeois

Meet Lisa

A neighbour and experienced leader who believes in listening first.

I'm Lisa Bourgeois, a Comox resident, business leader and hands-on problem solver.

I've spent more than 20 years helping organizations navigate change, solve complex problems and improve how they serve people. I'm also a Certified Change Management Practitioner, and I've worked directly with the City of Courtenay, which gives me a practical, on-the-ground understanding of how municipal decisions, services and projects actually come together.

I recently completed Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management program in AI Strategies for Business Transformation. Together, those experiences have strengthened my belief that change works best when people understand it, have a voice in it, and can see how decisions will affect them.

Lisa Bourgeois with her family

Throughout my career, I've learned that good leadership starts with listening, asking the right questions, bringing different perspectives together and turning good ideas into results.

My family and I are proud to call Comox home. We love the sense of community, the natural beauty and the quality of life we have here.

I want to help protect what makes Comox special while making sure our community is ready for the people and generations who come next.

Why I'm Running

Because I care about where Comox is going, and how we get there.

Comox is growing and changing, and I believe we can plan for that future without losing the character and natural beauty that make this such a special place to live. That means real decisions ahead on housing, infrastructure, transportation and how we invest public and development dollars responsibly.

I believe Comox is ready for fresh ideas and new perspectives. I want to bring positive energy to Council, approach issues with an open mind and focus on solutions that work for Comox, with input from residents and a clear understanding of the costs and long-term impacts.

Good decisions take more than good ideas. They take listening, honest communication and follow-through. Residents should have opportunities to be heard, understand how and why decisions are being made, and know that their tax dollars are being managed responsibly. That's the approach I want to bring to Council.

The next four years are an opportunity to shape what kind of community Comox becomes. I want to help protect what makes this place special while creating room for local businesses, families, parks and neighbourhoods to thrive, for the people who call Comox home today and the generations who'll call it home tomorrow.

We don't have to choose between protecting what we love and preparing for what's next. We can do both, thoughtfully.

My Priorities

What I'll bring to the Council table

These aren't slogans or promises with easy answers. They are the issues I believe deserve thoughtful questions, responsible decisions and consistent attention from Council.

Responsible financial management

Treat taxpayer dollars with care and plan for major costs before they become urgent. That includes looking ahead at the Town’s core financial software and making sure the systems behind essential services remain reliable. Residents should be able to see the priorities, costs and tradeoffs behind Council’s decisions.

Thoughtful growth & housing

Work with residents, builders and community partners on creative housing solutions that meet Comox’s needs. Use thoughtful design to add housing choices while respecting the character, charm and natural beauty of our neighbourhoods. Make sure infrastructure and services can keep pace with change.

Local business & economic development

Make Comox a place where local businesses can start, grow and succeed while creating a vibrant downtown and strong local economy.

Environment & climate resilience

Protect Comox’s natural spaces, parks, mature trees, shoreline and wildlife while preparing for changing conditions. Plan for stormwater, extreme heat and wildfire smoke, and make sure our infrastructure can withstand future demands.

Seniors, healthcare & family services

Support access to healthcare and services that let seniors age well in Comox, while building a community where families and young people can belong and thrive too.

Arts, culture & community life

Support the events, gathering spaces, creativity and local traditions that bring people together and give Comox its character.

Communication & accountability

Make it easier for residents to understand what Council is considering, why decisions are made and what happens afterward.

Neighbourhood-specific concerns

Recognize that every part of Comox is different. Council should understand what residents are experiencing in their own neighbourhoods, not assume one answer fits everyone.

Safer ways to get around

Make it safer and easier to move around Comox, whether people are walking, cycling, driving or using transit. Focus on practical improvements to routes, crossings and connections between neighbourhoods, schools, parks and downtown.

Investing in infrastructure

Maintain roads, water, sewer, facilities and the systems that keep Town services running. Plan for repairs and replacement over the long term so Council can make informed choices and avoid preventable emergencies.

Election 2026

Who I'm Voting For

You can vote for up to six candidates for Comox Council. If you’re wondering who else I’m supporting, I’ve shared my six choices below.

We’re each running independently, with different backgrounds and experience. What we share is a commitment to thoughtful growth, responsible planning and protecting what makes Comox special. We also want residents to hear about decisions earlier, have a meaningful say and know their concerns are being heard.

I believe this group would bring a good balance of fresh perspectives and Council experience. We won’t agree on everything, but I’m confident we can listen, work together and debate respectfully.

I encourage you to learn about all the candidates and choose the people who best reflect the future you want for Comox.

Looking for more information about the candidates?

Most importantly, please encourage everyone you know in Comox to vote!

I encourage you to invite 2 or 3 friends and neighbours to go with you to the advance polls, when the lines are shorter. Anyone who has moved to Comox recently can bring 2 pieces of ID with a name and address on it, including one piece of ID with your signature. See all voting dates and locations.
